In a key move to strengthen Mumbai’s aviation infrastructure, the City and Industrial Development Corporation has invited bids for a techno-commercial feasibility study for a proposed third runway at Navi Mumbai Airport. The initiative reflects planning as the region prepares for sustained growth in air travel and aviation-linked economic activity.
Navi Mumbai Airport is being developed as a major greenfield airport project, designed to ease congestion at existing facilities and support long-term capacity needs. The proposed additional runway is intended to improve aviation connectivity, operational efficiency, and passenger handling capability as traffic volumes rise.
The appointed consultant will be tasked with preparing a comprehensive report assessing the project’s viability. The study will evaluate multiple dimensions critical to informed decision-making and long-term planning for airport infrastructure expansion.
By initiating this study, CIDCO aims to ensure that Navi Mumbai Airport is equipped with future-ready aviation capacity and aligns with global standards in safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
