In the heart of Ayodhya, where history and spirituality converge, a new chapter is being written—not by a king or a sage, but by Bollywood’s own legend, Amitabh Bachchan. The city, renowned for the majestic Ram Mandir, has become the backdrop for Bachchan’s expanding real estate odyssey, blending personal legacy with the pulse of modern India’s luxury landscape.
It began with a bold move: Bachchan acquired a sprawling 25,000 sq ft plot adjacent to The Sarayu, a prestigious luxury development by The House of Abhinandan Lodha(HoABL), for nearly ₹40 crore. This was not his first foray into Ayodhya’s property market. In 2024, he had already secured a 10,000 sq ft plot in the same enclave, investing ₹14.5 crore in what is billed as a 7-star mixed-use development.
But the story deepens. In early 2025, under the banner of the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Trust, the actor acquired a massive 54,454 sq ft plot about 10 km from the Ram Mandir. Whispers in the city suggest this land may soon host a memorial to his father, the revered Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan—a tribute blending cultural heritage with community aspirations.
Before the Ram Mandir’s grand inauguration, Bachchan had also purchased a 5,372 sq ft plot in Haveli Avadh for ₹4.54 crore, further signaling his commitment to the city’s transformation. Beyond Ayodhya, his portfolio includes a 10,000 sq ft parcel in Alibaug for ₹10 crore, again from HoABL, underscoring his strategy of investing in India’s most promising luxury destinations.
Bachchan’s investments mirror Ayodhya’s meteoric rise as a real estate hotspot. According to the Liases Foras report, land prices in the city have soared at a CAGR of 19%, with projections pointing to a staggering 25% by 2035. The Sarayu riverfront and the Ram Mandir corridor have seen values multiply more than 4.5 times between 2020 and 2025.
This surge is fueled by sweeping infrastructure projects:
Over 50 luxury hotels are in the pipeline, with iconic brands like The Leela, Taj, and The Oberoi setting their sights on Ayodhya, cementing its status as a global spiritual and investment hub.
At the heart of Ayodhya’s transformation stands HoABL, a branded land developer founded in 2020. With over 15 million sq ft delivered and 30 million sq ft under development, the company is redefining luxury living across India. Its footprint stretches from Ayodhya to Goa, Alibaug, and beyond, with ambitious plans to expand into 48 cities. In Mumbai, HoABL is making waves with vertical developments across Marine Lines, Chowpatty, and Naigaon, offering a combined 3.1 million sq ft of premium space.
Amitabh Bachchan’s real estate journey in Ayodhya is more than a tale of investment—it is a narrative of legacy, vision, and the seamless blend of tradition with modernity. As the city evolves, his presence and projects are set to leave an indelible mark, inspiring both spiritual seekers and savvy investors.
“This is a start of a heartfelt journey into the soul of Ayodhya, where tradition and modernity seamlessly co-exist, creating an emotional tapestry that resonates with me deeply.”
