The Chandigarh Administration has initiated the process to auction 10 residential plots located across various sectors of the city. The plots will be offered through an e-auction mechanism as part of the administration's efforts to conduct planned property auctions during the financial year.
The residential sites are located in Sectors 15-B, 20, 21, 23, 27-D, 30-A, 37-A, 44 and 44-B. Plot sizes range from approximately 100 square yards to more than 500 square yards.
Interested bidders can submit the required documents and earnest money deposit (EMD) from June 2 to June 23. Following the submission period, the Estate Office will scrutinise the applications and supporting documents between June 24 and June 26.
The administration has also scheduled pre-bid seminars to assist prospective participants. These sessions will be conducted on June 6 and June 7 from 3 pm to 5 pm at the committee room of the UT Estate Office.
The online auction process will begin at 9 am on June 27 and conclude at 11 am on June 29. Eligible applicants who complete the documentation and EMD requirements will be allowed to participate in the bidding process.
Additional charges will apply for specific plots. The Estate Office will levy an extra 5% charge on corner plots and park-facing sites.
Before initiating the auction process, the administration decided to clear auction sites of trees and overhead electricity cables wherever required. The move is intended to ensure that successful bidders receive possession without delays caused by site-related issues.
The decision follows experiences from previous auctions where the presence of mature trees on some residential plots delayed the handover process.
The residential auction forms part of a year-long auction programme prepared by the UT Estate Office. The administration has planned four auction phases during the 2026-27 financial year, with each phase scheduled approximately three months apart.
The annual auction plan includes around 40 residential plots, 40 commercial properties and 40 industrial sites. The administration has prepared the calendar to provide greater predictability for buyers and reduce the need for repeated auction notifications throughout the year.
The first phase will begin with the auction of these 10 residential plots, marking the start of the city's planned property disposal programme for the current financial year.
