The Telangana government has unveiled an ambitious plan to develop an 80-acre Eco-Town, drawing inspiration from the renowned Kitakyushu City in Japan. This forward-thinking initiative underscores Telangana’s commitment to sustainable development and aims to set a new benchmark for eco-friendly urban and industrial growth in India.
In partnership with Kitakyushu, Telangana will embark on a series of progressive projects:
The planned Future City will feature eco-friendly industrial zones, zero-waste infrastructure, and advanced water and waste management systems, positioning it as a model for environmental sustainability.
To further enhance economic collaboration, Telangana is considering the launch of direct flight services between Hyderabad and Kitakyushu. This move is designed to attract Japanese investment and foster closer business relationships, reinforcing Telangana’s reputation as a leading industrial destination.
Over the past 18 months, the state’s proactive approach has already secured investments worth Rs 3 trillion from global corporations, highlighting its appeal on the international stage.
The Eco-Town initiative was announced at the ‘From Kitakyushu to Telangana: Catalysing Sustainable Industrial Growth’ conference, co-hosted by the Telangana government and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at T-Hub. The event brought together key stakeholders, including the Mayor of Kitakyushu, senior state officials, and industry leaders, to chart a path toward a greener, more innovative future.
