Rich in minerals, iron ore, coal, manganese bauxite and lime, Jamshedpur is the largest city in Jharkhand and an industrial zone of east India. It is the first planned industrial city of India. The city is also known as the Steel City and Tatanagar. It was founded by Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata. Jamshedpur is the third largest city of east India after Kolkata and Patna. It is surrounded by Kharkai and the River Subarnarekha.
According to a survey conducted by the Indian Government in 2010, Jamshedpur was the seventh cleanest city of the country. Since a good chunk of the city is governed by the Tata Steel plant in the first place.

Transport

Tata Steel has proposed to set up a Greenfield Airport measure 600 acres in the Seraikela-Adityapur area. The TRIL and Tata Steel went into a joint venture for developing the airport. The airport shall allow landing and take-off of large aircrafts like Airbus A320 which the present airport cannot provide. The process of land acquisition had begun in 2012 and around 528 acres of land have been acquired for the purpose.
