Several residents living in Dubai's Remraam community have been asked to temporarily vacate their homes as part of a major remediation programme being undertaken by Dubai Holding Community Management (DHCM). The company described the initiative as a preventive long-term measure following routine inspections aimed at maintaining the quality and safety standards of the community.
According to information shared with residents, the relocation process will take place in phases starting from July 1, 2026. Depending on the building and scope of work involved, residents may be required to move out for a period ranging from 16 months to 20 months.
Comprehensive Remediation Programme Planned
DHCM stated that it is carrying out a comprehensive remediation programme across selected parts of the Remraam community. The works are intended to address essential maintenance and improvement requirements identified during inspections.
The company said it is coordinating closely with relevant authorities to ensure a structured and compliant implementation process. Residents affected by the programme have been provided with communication channels and support mechanisms to help them manage the temporary relocation.

Compensation Framework For Residents
To support affected residents, DHCM has introduced a compensation framework. According to a resident FAQ document reviewed by the publication, compensation will be calculated by multiplying the relocation period in months by the average RERA rental index value applicable to the unit type.
In addition to rent compensation, residents will receive a one-time relocation allowance based on the size of their property.

Residents Raise Concerns Over Costs And Relocation

Residents highlighted issues such as finding alternative accommodation, managing family commitments and continuing financial obligations. Some homeowners noted that service charges would continue during the remediation period. One resident stated that owners of one-bedroom units may still face service charges of around Dh1,200 per month, in addition to mortgage payments and any rental costs exceeding the relocation allowance.
Community Awaits Long-Term Improvements
Despite the inconvenience, several residents acknowledged that the remediation programme is intended to improve the long-term condition and safety of the buildings. Homeowners who have lived in the community for years said the temporary disruption could ultimately result in a better living environment once the works are completed.
The programme represents one of the largest community-wide remediation efforts in Remraam, with affected residents now preparing for temporary relocation while awaiting the completion of the works over the next several months.
