At the NAREDCO 17th National Convention themed “India Builds: Reimagining Growth through Real Estate and Infrastructure,” the Government of Maharashtra assured its commitment to progressive policies for housing and infrastructure development. Mrs. Meghana Sakore Bordikar, Minister of State, highlighted that the State would frame infrastructure-related policies aligned with evolving industry needs.
Addressing stakeholders, the Minister emphasized that recommendations from the convention — covering town planning, sewage and water management, water recycling, and industry incentives — would be taken into serious consideration. While she remained non-committal on reducing stamp duty, she reiterated the Government’s dedication to infrastructure-led growth under the current regime.
Maharashtra is prioritizing sustainable growth by tackling water scarcity issues. Initiatives include revamping ponds and water resources, improving yield, and exploring river connectivity. Additionally, subsidies are being extended for primary infrastructure and basic amenities, supported by collaboration with the Central Government.
Mrs. Smita Patil, President of MAHI, NAREDCO, urged the State to offer comprehensive policy support to close gaps in housing and infrastructure. Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of NAREDCO, called for housing and real estate to grow at least 15% annually to enable India to achieve developed-nation status before 2047.
Mr. Prashant Sharma, President of NAREDCO Maharashtra, welcomed the State’s assurance. “Consistency, transparency, and ease of doing business are essential to boost investor confidence. With an emphasis on sustainable growth and better town planning, Maharashtra can emerge as India’s top real estate destination. NAREDCO Maharashtra stands ready to partner in this journey,” he said.
