Once dismissed as a "dead" economy by Donald Trump, India has now become the star of The Trump Organization’s global expansion, emerging as its largest market outside the United States. Over the past decade, the family-run business forged major alliances with India’s top builders, earning at least ₹175 crore from projects in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, and Gurugram. The real estate landscape was set for transformation.
Just days after Donald Trump’s re-election as the 47th U.S. President in November 2024, the Trump Organization—partnered with Tribeca Developers—announced an audacious expansion drive: six new projects across Gurugram, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Noida, and Bengaluru, totaling 8 million sq ft of high-end development. This new wave follows the earlier success of projects in prime metros, bringing the total Trump-branded real estate footprint to a staggering 11 million sq ft, tripling its size within a single year.
Rather than investing capital in construction, The Trump Organization simply lends its name for an upfront license fee or a development fee, or claims a share of 3–5% from project sales. These properties, marketed as ultimate symbols of luxury, enjoy a premium thanks to the Trump name. Such partnerships ensure that the Trump brand taps India’s most lucrative real estate markets while enjoying a steady income, without bearing financial risk.
The Trump projects are executed with Indian real estate’s biggest names: Reliance’s RIL, Lodha Group, M3M, Panchshil Realty, IRA Infra, Unimark, and the official Indian partner, Tribeca Developers led by Kalpesh Mehta. By March, Tribeca estimated the sales potential of these projects to soar to at least ₹15,000 crore, with Pune unveiling its first Trump-branded commercial space. Notably, the organization received at least $12 million from India in 2024 alone, with $10 million paid as development fees by Reliance 4IR Realty.
The Trump Organization, overseen by Donald Trump’s sons Donald Jr. and Eric as executive vice-presidents, operates globally from New York. Upon first assuming U.S. presidential office in 2017, Donald Trump handed over daily management to his sons yet retained majority ownership via trust, later described as “chairman.” Their India story features 13 branded projects: two delivered, two near-completion, and several more underway or planned, with only a rare few delayed.
From the first Indian project in 2012 to today’s luxury drape across six major cities, Trump Towers have become synonymous with aspiration and exclusivity. As India’s cities continue to boom, the Trump brand is poised to influence the nation’s skyline—one tower at a time—drawing both success and scrutiny, and leaving an undeniable mark on luxury real estate in the world’s fastest-growing economy.
