UP CM Launches ₹12,000 Crore Housing Projects in Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched the foundation-laying and plot registration process for the Lucknow Development Authority's Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar housing schemes.

The two projects are spread across 10,680 acres and involve an estimated investment of ₹12,000 crore.

At the same event in Lucknow, the chief minister laid the foundation stone for five proposed multi-storey apartment projects. These projects have an estimated cost of ₹2,166 crore.

Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar Schemes

Adityanath said the two housing schemes are planned to provide residential facilities to lakhs of people and support the organised expansion of Lucknow.

The Varun Vihar scheme will cover more than 6,500 acres and is expected to provide residential facilities to more than six lakh people.

The Naimish Nagar scheme will cover around 4,100 acres and is expected to benefit more than four lakh people, according to the chief minister.

Focus on Planned Housing

The chief minister said unplanned development can leave residents without adequate electricity, water supply, sewerage and other facilities.

He also referred to problems such as waterlogging in areas that develop without proper infrastructure.

The new housing projects will cater to people seeking residential plots as well as apartments. The schemes will also include affordable housing and units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

According to Adityanath, the projects are expected to benefit students, healthcare professionals, young people seeking employment opportunities and people planning to make Lucknow their permanent home.

Compensation for Acquired Land

Adityanath assured farmers whose land is acquired for the projects that they will receive proper compensation.

He said there would be no middlemen between the LDA and farmers and that brokerage would not be allowed.

Connectivity Plans for Lucknow

The chief minister also highlighted infrastructure improvements around Lucknow, including airport and metro expansion, the Kisan Path and Green Corridor, and improved road connectivity.

He said the government is working to develop Lucknow as a State Capital Region linking Lucknow, Unnao, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki and Rae Bareli through planned regional development.

Connectivity between Lucknow and Naimisharanya is also planned to improve through four-lane road connectivity.

Adityanath said the Varun Vihar project will also provide connectivity to the Purvanchal Expressway.
