The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has launched an International EduCity project on ~250 acres in Kundevahal, Navi Mumbai, aiming to transform the region into a major global education destination.
As part of this initiative, CIDCO plans to host 8-10 international universities - including the University of York, University of Aberdeen, Illinois Institute of Technology, University of Western Australia, and Istituto Europeo di Design. The vision includes centres for research, innovation, student housing, and skill development.
The EduCity site lies just 3-4 km from Navi Mumbai International Airport, offering strong transport links via the Samruddhi Expressway, Mumbai–Pune Expressway, and a future Metro Line (M-24) for seamless connectivity.
At the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, CIDCO signed MoUs with Eruditus (valued at ₹20,000-₹25,000 crore) to drive the EduCity forward, including job creation of around 20,000. They also partnered with BookMyShow for a ₹1,700 crore entertainment arena nearby, reinforcing the area’s mixed-use ambitions.
CIDCO has issued a ₹116.5 crore tender to build access roads from NH-4B to the EduCity site, a crucial step as nearly 85% of the land is already acquired. The development will occur in four parcels, with road network, university allotments, and campus infrastructure being rolled out in phases.
By combining education, innovation, and global collaboration, CIDCO’s EduCity is shaping up to be a key pillar of Navi Mumbai’s future - and a magnet for knowledge-driven growth.
