DDA Cuts Complaint Backlog

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has sharply reduced the backlog of public complaints this year, bringing down pending grievances by more than 85 per cent after resolving nearly 20,000 cases in the first six months.

According to the authority, pending complaints fell from 22,946 at the start of the year to 3,167 by the end of June, marking a significant drop in the volume of unresolved cases carried forward into the second half of the year.

19,779 grievances resolved across multiple platforms

Between January and June, the DDA resolved 19,779 grievances received through several platforms, including:

  • LG Listening Post
  • CM Jan Sunwai/PGMS
  • DRMS
  • Mobile 311
  • Samasya Nidan Sewa

Handling complaints across this range of channels means residents have multiple avenues through which to raise grievances, with the DDA now working to resolve cases coming in through all of them within a shorter timeframe.

LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu's push for citizen-centric governance

The DDA said the improvement followed directions from Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who asked all departments to make governance more responsive, efficient and citizen-centric.

According to the authority's statement, soon after taking charge, the LG instructed all departments to adopt responsive, efficient and citizen-centric governance to achieve the goal of Viksit Delhi, specifically directing proactive handling of citizen complaints and expeditious disposal of cases during preliminary meetings with DDA officials.

Public hearings without appointments

Alongside efforts to reduce pendency, the authority has expanded its outreach through public hearing sessions held every working Monday and Thursday.

Residents can meet deputy directors and directors between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm, while commissioners and senior officials are available from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm, with no prior appointment required.

According to the DDA, around 6,000 people visit its offices every month on public hearing days, giving residents direct, walk-in access to officials without needing to navigate a formal appointment process.

The authority said it is continuing to track complaints through regular reviews, continuous monitoring and follow-ups with field units to ensure grievances are resolved on time and do not accumulate again.
