Construction work for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project is set to commence on a 6.4-acre parcel of railway land in Matunga West, central Mumbai. SVR Srinivas, CEO of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), confirmed that the much-awaited commencement certificate (CC) has been granted for this phase, paving the way for rehabilitation and construction.

The total number of eligible and ineligible households is expected to be finalized by March 2025. Srinivas emphasized that both categories would be provided housing, requiring an additional 550 acres of land for ineligible tenements, a request still under consideration.
