Dubai is set to launch a new Rent Now, Pay Later service in September. The service will allow tenants to spread their annual rent over up to 12 months. The instalments will carry zero interest.
The initiative is being developed by the Dubai Land Department (DLD) with a local bank. It aims to give tenants more flexibility when paying rent. It is also intended to make housing payments more manageable.
Under the proposed model, a tenant will first select a residential property. The participating bank will then pay the landlord the full annual rent upfront.
The tenant will repay the bank in instalments over a period of up to 12 months. The proposed repayments will be interest-free. This structure would change how tenants manage large annual rental payments.
The final structure is still being developed. DLD and the participating bank have not yet announced the full eligibility conditions. Details on applications, financing and repayments are also expected when the service officially launches.
The new service follows DLD's Flexi Rent initiative. The earlier programme was launched on June 23. It expanded rental payment options in Dubai.
Under Flexi Rent, tenants can access monthly, quarterly and semi-annual payment options. The programme also introduced incentives and packages from participating entities.
DLD said the earlier initiative was designed to support rental market stability. It also aimed to improve quality of life and provide housing solutions for different segments of the community.
The proposed Rent Now, Pay Later service could further change the way annual rents are paid in Dubai. Tenants would not need to arrange the full annual amount at the start of a lease under the proposed model.
Landlords would still receive the annual rent upfront from the participating bank. Tenants would then manage their payments through the bank instead of paying the landlord directly in the same way.
The initiative is being positioned as a new payment option for Dubai's rental market. However, the final terms will only become clear when the service is officially launched.

According to the report, the initiative could make Dubai the first city globally to introduce this type of mechanism as an integrated part of its rental market.
That distinction remains dependent on the final structure of the service. The programme is still under development, and its detailed operating framework has not yet been announced.
The planned September launch adds another payment option to Dubai's evolving rental market. The combination of upfront payment to landlords and interest-free instalments for tenants could provide a different approach to managing annual housing costs.
