Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is preparing to launch the first phase of the ambitious Harnandipuram Township in September. The initial launch will cover nearly 48 hectares of land, marking a significant step in one of Ghaziabad's largest planned urban development projects.
The township is being developed near Raj Nagar Extension and close to the Delhi-Meerut Road. The location is also strategically positioned near the proposed international cricket stadium, the planned aerocity-themed township and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. The project is expected to become an important component of Ghaziabad's long-term urban expansion strategy.
The broader Harnandipuram Township project has been proposed over approximately 521 hectares spanning multiple villages, including Mathurapur, Shamsher, Champat Nagar, Bhaneda Khurd, Nagla Firoz Mohanpur, Bhovapur, Shahpur Nij Morta and Morta. However, the authority has decided to proceed with a smaller first phase because acquiring continuous land parcels has remained challenging.
Officials have already secured farmer consent for a substantial portion of the required land and completed registries for several parcels. The phased launch approach is expected to help the authority begin development while continuing land acquisition for future stages of the township.
The township is being planned as an integrated urban community with modern infrastructure and residential amenities. Earlier project plans indicated that the development would focus on efficient connectivity to transport networks, including Metro and Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) infrastructure. The project is also expected to incorporate smart infrastructure solutions such as energy-efficient systems, planned road networks and modern civic amenities.
The authority has also initiated detailed planning activities, including topographic drone surveys and the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR), to ensure systematic infrastructure development and effective land use planning.
The launch of Harnandipuram Township's first phase is expected to add new residential supply to Ghaziabad and support the city's expansion beyond existing urban centres. Large integrated townships generally encourage infrastructure investments and create new residential and commercial opportunities.
The project is also expected to strengthen Ghaziabad's position within the Delhi-NCR property market by creating a planned urban destination supported by connectivity infrastructure and organised development. As infrastructure corridors continue expanding across NCR, projects such as Harnandipuram are increasingly becoming important drivers of future urban growth.
The upcoming launch of Harnandipuram Township's first phase marks an important milestone in Ghaziabad's urban development journey. By adopting a phased implementation strategy and focusing on planned infrastructure creation, the project is positioned to become one of the city's major residential destinations in the coming years.
