IKEA UAE, part of the Al-Futtaim Group, has launched an expanded and redesigned Market Hall at its Dubai Festival City store, increasing the space to 6,100 square metres. The expansion adds approximately 1,000 square metres to the existing retail area and is aimed at creating a more seamless, inspiring and connected shopping experience for customers.
The revamped Market Hall combines home furnishing inspiration, digital tools and interactive experiences to help shoppers navigate the store more easily while discovering products and ideas for every room in their homes.
According to IKEA UAE, the redesign reflects evolving customer shopping habits and the growing demand for a more engaging retail experience. The company has focused on improving navigation, product discovery and inspiration throughout the customer journey.
The new layout has been carefully planned to help visitors move through different sections more efficiently while exploring products in a more intuitive way.
Vinod Jayan, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim IKEA for UAE, Qatar, Oman and Egypt, said customer expectations around home furnishing have changed significantly in recent years, prompting IKEA to rethink how inspiration and shopping come together inside the store.
The expanded Market Hall introduces several new features designed to make shopping more immersive and interactive.
These additions have been developed to help customers visualize products within real-life settings and discover practical solutions for their homes.
Among the standout additions are the new "Microworlds", which provide immersive environments that showcase complete furnishing concepts. These spaces combine carefully selected products, colours and textures to demonstrate how different elements can work together within a home.
The Market Hall also features "Refresh Gateways", located at the entrances to various departments. These gateways have been designed to create a stronger sense of immersion while helping visitors transition smoothly between different product categories.
Each gateway reflects the identity and characteristics of the department it represents, helping customers better understand the range of products available in that section.
The redesigned Market Hall forms part of IKEA UAE's broader effort to enhance the in-store shopping experience. By combining inspiration, technology and easier navigation, the company aims to make the customer journey more engaging and efficient.
The expansion also reinforces IKEA's continued investment in physical retail spaces, even as customer expectations increasingly focus on convenience, personalization and interactive shopping experiences.
The expanded Market Hall at IKEA Dubai Festival City represents a significant enhancement to the retailer's customer experience strategy, blending inspiration, technology and practical home solutions within a larger and more interactive retail environment.
