A total of 4,21,083 beneficiaries have registered on the unified web portal in Maharashtra as of July 30 under the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, and the construction of 1,60,463 houses has been approved, a government release said on Thursday.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a review meeting on the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and the available housing stock under various housing schemes, and directed all implementing agencies to expedite housing projects across the state, the release said.
1.60 lakh houses approved under multiple scheme components
The 1,60,463 approved houses fall under several scheme components:
- Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC)
- Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP)
- AHP under Public-Private Partnership (PPP)
- Affordable Rental Housing (ARH)
Fadnavis emphasised that housing projects should be implemented at a faster pace so that construction is completed within the stipulated timeframe and homes can be handed over to beneficiaries without delay. He also instructed agencies to prioritise quality and ensure that projects are executed in accordance with prescribed standards and regulations.
Beneficiaries under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category are being provided five brass, approximately 500 cubic feet, of sand free of cost for house construction.

CM Fadnavis reviews housing stock management policy
A review of the "Housing Stock Management and Maharashtra Shelter Fund Strengthening Policy" was also held, aimed at addressing housing needs more effectively by ensuring better management of available housing across various authorities. As part of this, an integrated system is being developed for the management and allocation of houses available with agencies such as MHADA, CIDCO and SRA, the release said.
New portal to consolidate housing stock across agencies
Separately, a comprehensive Housing Stock Portal is being developed to consolidate information on houses available through MHADA, CIDCO, MMRDA, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) and Central and State Government housing schemes.
The portal will also facilitate housing allocation for special categories, including persons with disabilities, mill workers, mathadi workers, dabbawalas and transgender persons.
The housing stock currently available includes:
- MHADA: 15,291 housing units
- CIDCO: 11,830 housing units
- Local self-government bodies: 13,575 houses
- Slum Rehabilitation Authority: 2,281 housing units
- Shivshahi Rehabilitation Project Ltd: 84 housing units
Additionally, 3,945 housing units under the Shivshahi Rehabilitation Project have been temporarily allotted to various authorities for use as transit camps, the release said. Together, the new portal and integrated allocation system are intended to give the state a clearer, centralised view of housing availability across its various implementing agencies.
