Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have received a combined allocation of five lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).
Andhra Pradesh has been allotted three lakh houses, while Telangana has received two lakh units.
For Andhra Pradesh, the latest allocation includes an additional 2.25 lakh houses over the 74,000 units sanctioned earlier.
Telangana has received an additional 1.25 lakh houses over its earlier allocation of 74,000 units.
The new allocation is aimed at expanding rural housing coverage and helping eligible families build permanent homes.
Beneficiaries to Receive Financial Assistance
Under the latest allocation, each beneficiary is expected to receive around ₹1.70 lakh to ₹1.80 lakh through the convergence of different government schemes.
Support under PMAY-G is combined with assistance through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and the Swachh Bharat Mission for toilet construction.
The convergence is intended to provide beneficiaries with support for both house construction and basic amenities.
Under the core PMAY-G framework, unit assistance is ₹1.20 lakh in plain areas and ₹1.30 lakh in hilly and North-Eastern areas.
An additional ₹12,000 is available for toilet construction through SBM-G, along with wage support through the employment guarantee programme.

AP and Telangana Expand Rural Housing Plans
The latest allocation follows requests from both state governments for additional PMAY-G housing targets.
Union Rural Development Minister Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani said the additional allocation to Andhra Pradesh followed a request from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had also sought additional houses for the state, The Times of India reported.
The allocation comes as Andhra Pradesh works to accelerate construction of houses already sanctioned under different housing programmes.

PMAY-G Targets Housing for Rural Families
PMAY-G provides financial assistance to eligible rural households for constructing pucca houses with basic amenities.
The scheme has a wider objective of improving housing conditions among economically weaker rural families.
The Centre has allocated a cumulative target of 4.18 crore PMAY-G houses to states and Union Territories.
As of August 3, 2026, 3.91 crore houses had been sanctioned and 3.12 crore had been completed, according to the Ministry of Rural Development.
