Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore during his official visit to Gujarat on 8 September.
The visit covers freight corridor completions, new rail and highway projects, housing under PMAY, urban infrastructure and a floating solar installation.
It marks one of the largest single-day infrastructure commitment events in the state in recent years.
Western Dedicated Freight Corridor: Final Sections Go Live
The headline announcement is the inauguration of three key sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor spanning 326 route kilometres, costing more than ₹20,700 crore:
- Sanand (North)–Makarpura
- New Umbergaon–New Saphale
- New Saphale–Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT)
With these sections becoming operational, the entire Dedicated Freight Corridor network will be fully operational for the first time.
The commissioning provides direct connectivity to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, facilitating faster movement of export-import cargo between industrial centres and ports.
It is also expected to reduce logistics costs and ease congestion on Mumbai's railway network. PM Modi will also flag off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT.
Rail: ₹9,700 Crore in New Lines and Capacity Projects
Three railway projects spanning 329 km and costing more than ₹9,700 crore will receive foundation stones:
- Vadodara-Ratlam third and fourth lines
- Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar gauge conversion
- Vishwamitri-Dabhoi doubling project
Modi will also flag off a new passenger train between Vadodara and Tanda Road, serving Vadodara, Chhota Udepur and Alirajpur districts, and dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road rail line connecting remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur to the national rail network.

Highways: ₹1,780 Crore Across Three National Highway Projects
Three National Highway projects worth approximately ₹1,780 crore will be taken up, including:
- Six-laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan section of NH-48
- Additional structures including major bridges over the Tapi and Narmada on the Vadodara-Surat section of NH-48
- Grade-separated structures at Abhava, Mindhola and Khajod junctions on NH-53
- Six-lane flyovers at Kandari Chokdi and Luvara Patia on NH-48 to address black spots

Urban and Housing Projects
State government projects worth approximately ₹2,600 crore will also be inaugurated or launched.
These include the second phase of the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road, a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam and a new Vadodara Municipal Corporation office.
Housing projects under PMAY and a water supply project for 11 villages in eastern Vadodara are also among the day's inaugurations.
