RCRC Completes Northeast Riyadh Plan

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has completed the master plan for Northeast Riyadh, covering approximately 456 square kilometres. The planning area occupies a strategic location connected to King Khalid International Airport, Al-Sulai Valley, Dammam Road and Al-Janadriyah Road.

According to RCRC, the master plan establishes a long-term framework for future urban development and forms part of Riyadh's broader expansion strategy as the capital continues to witness rapid population, economic and urban growth.

The authority clarified that this announcement relates to the completion of the planning phase and does not represent the launch of an immediate construction project.

Framework Focuses on Integrated Urban Growth

The master plan outlines a comprehensive vision for land use based on phased urban expansion and integrated community development. It proposes neighbourhoods that combine residential areas with essential daily services while maintaining a balanced distribution of residential, economic, recreational and natural zones.

The planning approach also prioritises quality of life by expanding green spaces and preserving natural valleys within an interconnected urban structure. These principles are intended to support future development while ensuring sustainable growth across Northeast Riyadh.

Planning Supports Riyadh's Long-Term Expansion

RCRC stated that the master plan is designed to guide one of Riyadh's primary future growth corridors. The commission described the initiative as an important planning milestone that anticipates the capital's future requirements and prepares a long-term development framework capable of keeping pace with continued urban expansion.

Future planning stages will include more detailed regional plans in coordination with relevant government entities, with updates to be announced through official RCRC channels as they become available.

Master Plan Marks Initial Planning Stage

Officials emphasised that the completed master plan should not be interpreted as the start of an execution project. Instead, it provides the strategic planning foundation for future development decisions in Northeast Riyadh.

By establishing long-term land-use guidance and an integrated urban vision, the framework supports Riyadh's ongoing transformation while aligning future growth with sustainable planning objectives.
