UP RERA advises homebuyers to verify designated project collection accounts before transferring property payments

The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has urged homebuyers to deposit property payments only into the designated collection account of the respective real estate project.

The advisory, issued on October 12, 2026, aims to improve transparency in property transactions and protect buyers from potential financial risks.

The authority has advised buyers to use the designated account for property bookings, instalments and other dues.

It has also asked homebuyers to verify the project's bank account details through the official UP RERA portal before transferring money.

Buyers Asked to Report Unauthorised Payment Requests

UP RERA has specifically advised homebuyers to report cases in which a builder or promoter asks them to deposit money into a bank account other than the designated collection account for the concerned project.

Buyers can submit information about such requests through the dedicated facility available on the UP RERA website. The reporting link is:

The authority has emphasised that checking account details before making a payment is an important step towards ensuring transparency and reducing the risk of financial loss during property transactions.

Verify Bank Details Before Paying Property Dues

The advisory covers payments related to property bookings, instalments and other project dues.

Homebuyers are encouraged to confirm the designated collection account using the official regulatory portal rather than relying solely on payment instructions received from a builder or promoter.

UP RERA has asked buyers to inform the authority if they receive requests to transfer money into other accounts.

This reporting mechanism is intended to help the regulator receive information about payment requests that do not follow the designated account arrangement.

UP RERA Extends Quarterly Progress Report Deadline

The advisory follows another recent decision by UP RERA to extend the deadline for developers to submit their Quarterly Progress Reports (QPRs) for the quarter ended September 30, 2026.

The revised deadline is October 21, 2026.

The extension was granted to facilitate the transition to a newly introduced digital signing and submission process for mandatory certificates accompanying the reports.

Through its payment advisory, UP RERA has reiterated the importance of verifying project account information and reporting requests for transfers to other accounts.

Homebuyers can consult the authority's official portal to check project details before making property payments.
