Uttarakhand's Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grah Aawas Vikas Yojana provides financial support to eligible residents who want to develop a homestay.
The scheme is aimed at improving local accommodation and creating income opportunities through tourism.
In hilly areas, eligible beneficiaries can receive a capital subsidy of up to 50% of the project cost, subject to a maximum of ₹15 lakh.
The scheme also provides an interest subsidy of up to ₹1.50 lakh during the first five years of the loan, Times of India reported.
The scheme is intended for permanent residents or natives of Uttarakhand. The applicant must own or hold the eligible residential property and live there with their family.
The homestay must be registered with the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board.
The official eligibility criteria also state that the property should be residential and that the owner or leaseholder should permanently reside there.
Between one and six rooms can be used for guests under the current eligibility document. The scheme covers the state except areas under municipal corporations.
