Delhi Metro will begin services at 4 AM on August 15 to support travel for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced the special operating schedule on Thursday.
Trains will run every 30 minutes from 4 AM on all metro lines. This service will continue until regular revenue services begin according to the scheduled timetable for the day.
The early service is intended to help special guests, invitees and members of the public reach the Independence Day celebrations. The main event will take place at the Red Fort in Delhi.
DMRC has supplied 1.30 lakh special pre-vended QR tickets to the Ministry of Defence. The tickets will be used by special guests and bona fide invitees attending the Independence Day celebrations.
Invitees with valid physical admit cards issued by the Ministry of Defence can also receive special QR tickets. These tickets will be available at designated metro stations.
The special tickets are intended to make travel easier for people attending the national event. The Ministry of Defence will reimburse DMRC for travel made using these QR tickets.

DMRC has identified three metro stations as the nearest stations to the Independence Day venue. They are Lal Quila, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate.
These stations are expected to support passengers travelling towards the Red Fort area. The early metro service will also provide an alternative to road transport during the morning.
The special operating plan applies to Independence Day on August 15. Trains will operate at 30-minute intervals from 4 AM across all metro lines.
Regular services will begin later according to the normal timetable for the day. DMRC has not indicated that the early service will change the regular schedule after revenue services begin.

The early start is part of DMRC's arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations. The plan is designed to facilitate the movement of guests and other attendees travelling to the Red Fort.
The special QR ticket arrangement also separates travel for official invitees from regular passenger travel. Eligible invitees can use the designated tickets for their journey to the event.
With services starting at 4 AM, Delhi Metro will provide an early public transport option before its regular revenue schedule begins. The 30-minute frequency will apply on all lines during the early operating period.
