The Maharashtra government runs a housing scheme for Scheduled Caste and Nav-Buddha communities. It covers both rural and urban areas of the state.
The scheme is called the Ramai Awas (Gharkul) Scheme. It aims to improve the standard of living for eligible families. It does this by offering financial assistance for housing.
The financial assistance amount depends on where the beneficiary lives.
Priority under the scheme is given to applicants from the Below Poverty Line category.
The applicant should have lived in Maharashtra for 15 years. The annual income limit also varies by area.
Only one person from a family can receive the benefit. The applicant must own their own land. They should not be receiving benefits under any other government housing scheme.
Applicants need to submit a few key documents. These include a residential or domicile certificate, a caste certificate, an Aadhaar card, address proof, an identity card, and a passport-size photograph.
