Umm Al Qura for Development and Construction, the developer behind the landmark Masar Destination project, has unveiled Masar Gardens, a major mixed-use urban destination in Makkah with an initial infrastructure and land investment of approximately SAR 6 billion. The project is part of the company's newly announced 2026-2030 growth strategy, which aims to transform it from a single-project developer into a diversified urban development platform across Saudi Arabia's western region.
Spread across approximately 1.2 million square metres, Masar Gardens will be developed over a five-year period and is expected to become one of Makkah's largest integrated urban developments. The project will be located adjacent to the existing Masar Destination and will serve as a natural extension of the city's ongoing urban transformation.
The development has been designed as a comprehensive mixed-use destination that combines residential, commercial, hospitality and public-use components within a single master-planned community.
According to the developer, the project is intended to enhance quality of life while creating a modern urban environment that supports Makkah's long-term growth objectives. Significant emphasis is being placed on infrastructure, accessibility, sustainability and public spaces.
The launch of Masar Gardens coincides with Umm Al Qura's broader plan to create a diversified portfolio of urban destinations valued at more than SAR 50 billion. Under the strategy, the company plans to expand beyond its flagship Masar Destination project and pursue future developments across Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah.
The company stated that its previous 2021-2026 strategy helped complete key infrastructure works at Masar Destination, strengthen operational capabilities and support its transition into a publicly listed company on the Saudi Exchange. The new roadmap focuses on scaling these achievements through larger and more diversified projects.
Masar Gardens will be developed on the Hindawiya West and Hindawiya South sites, which were awarded to a consortium comprising:
The combined development area covers approximately 1.2 million square metres, making it one of the largest urban expansion projects announced in Makkah in recent years.
Masar Gardens aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to improve urban infrastructure, attract investment, enhance quality of life and diversify the Kingdom's economy. By introducing new residential, hospitality and commercial assets, the project is expected to create long-term economic opportunities while strengthening Makkah's position as a global destination for residents, businesses and visitors.
