Infrastructure Maintenance

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has approved the creation of a dedicated corpus fund to support the repair and maintenance of civic infrastructure across its notified area. The decision was taken during the authority's 90th Board Meeting, chaired by Alok Kumar, Chairman of YEIDA and Additional Chief Secretary of the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department.

The move comes ahead of the commencement of commercial operations at the Noida International Airport, which is scheduled to begin on June 15. YEIDA expects a significant increase in industrial, commercial, and residential activity in the region once airport operations start, making long-term infrastructure upkeep a critical requirement.

Why YEIDA is Creating the Corpus Fund

According to YEIDA CEO RK Singh, the authority already spends a fixed amount every year on maintaining essential civic services. However, with rapid urbanisation and ongoing development projects, these expenses are expected to rise substantially in the coming years. The corpus fund is intended to ensure that adequate financial resources remain available for infrastructure maintenance even as the region expands.

The fund will be used to maintain and upgrade key public infrastructure, including:

  • Road networks and transport infrastructure.
  • Drinking water supply systems.
  • Drains and sewerage networks.
  • Electricity infrastructure.
  • Parks and public amenities.
  • Other civic facilities developed by the authority.

How the Fund Will Be Financed

YEIDA has decided that the corpus fund will be built using revenue generated from multiple sources. These include recurring and one-time charges collected by the authority from allottees and developers operating within its jurisdiction.

The primary funding sources will include:

  • Lease rent collections.
  • Purchasable FAR (Floor Area Ratio) charges.
  • Transfer charges.
  • Restoration charges.
  • Extension charges.
  • Plan processing fees.
  • Other revenue streams earned by the authority.

According to reports, the corpus is expected to begin with around ₹25 crore annually and could gradually grow to between ₹150 crore and ₹200 crore over the next decade as development activity increases across the Yamuna Expressway region. A dedicated account is also expected to be maintained for the fund.

Board Reviews Revenue Growth and Industrial Development

During the meeting, YEIDA also reviewed its financial performance. The authority reported capital receipts of ₹745.85 crore during the April-May period of FY 2026-27, compared to ₹522.39 crore during the corresponding period of the previous financial year, reflecting a growth of approximately 43%.

The board was informed that YEIDA has allotted 3,175 industrial plots so far, with lease deeds executed for 2,495 plots. Progress of key industrial clusters, including the Apparel Park, Toy Park, MSME Park, and Medical Devices Park, was also reviewed during the meeting. Additionally, representatives of Bayview Projects LLP briefed the board on the implementation roadmap for the proposed Film City project in Sector 21.

The creation of the corpus fund reflects YEIDA's efforts to build a sustainable financial mechanism for maintaining civic infrastructure as the Noida airport region evolves into one of North India's fastest-growing industrial and urban development corridors.
